The Parish Groups of Our Lady of Guadalupe listed below allow parishioners to use their gifts and talents to serve others. If you see a group that interests you, please contact the parish office and they will get you in touch with someone from that group.
Parish Pastoral Council
is the representative voice of the people of the parish and strives to act in the best interest of all members of the parish. It is the duty of the Council, in cooperation with the pastor, to meet the spiritual needs of the parish, to oversee the upkeep of the church and cemetery grounds, and all financial matters of the parish. Council president is Donna Siefring.
Finance Commission
consists of the pastor, business manager, and appointed parishioners. They advise the Council on financial matters of the parish, and count the collections. They oversee the annual financial report. The chairman is Doug Klosterman. They are represented on the Council.
Mission Commission
consists of parishioners and the pastor. They conduct fundraisers and allocate the profits to our sister parish in LaLabor, Guatemala and to other mission projects. They promote prayer for the Missions and keep the parish informed of mission activities. The president is Ron Schulze. They are represented on the Council.
Liturgy Commission
consists of parishioners and the pastor. They help with all aspects of parish liturgies, and stay aware of the needs of the parish community regarding liturgies. They are represented on the Council.
Education Commission
consists of the pastor, teachers, parents, and the CCD coordinator. They are responsible for overseeing our CCD program. Ruth Wynk is the CCD Coordinator. They are represented on the Council.
Building and Grounds Commission
consists of the pastor, the two maintenance employees, and several parishioners. They are responsible for the church buildings, the surrounding grounds, and the cemetery. The chairman is Ron Schulze. They are represented on the Council.
Christian Mother/Altar Rosary Sodality
is an association open to all women of the parish. They pray together to strengthen the values of a Christian Mother, and they help with various needs of the parish. Their president is Cindy Braun.
Holy Name Society
is a group of adult men who serve the parish in a variety of ways. They believe in setting a good example by their works of service to the church. Their president is Dave Axe.
CYO (Christian Youth Organization)
is a wonderful service opportunity for youth in grades 7-12. They do a variety of both fun and service activities. The CYO is represented on the Parish Council.
Choir
Our parish has four choirs: Youth, Spirit, Adult, and Funeral choirs. The director is Cindy Ebbing and the head organist is Lee Ann Dorsten.
Eucharistic Ministers
are involved in various aspects of service involving the Eucharist. They distribute the Eucharist at Sunday Masses, are involved in Communion Services, and bring communion to the hospitals, nursing homes, and homebound.
Lectors
proclaim God’s word at Mass. They are trained to proclaim the readings in a way that will help the listener better understand the readings.
Ushers
are men and women who greet the people at Mass and take up the collection. Their role is important since many times they are the first person who the visitors meet.
Communion Service Leaders
are available to lead a prayer service when Mass is unavailable. The leaders are trained to proclaim God’s word and to distribute Communion.
Baptismal Preparation Group
consists of married couples who meet with expectant parents to help them prepare for their first child's baptism. The couples watch a short informational video, then discuss the responsibilities of a Catholic parent.
Liturgy of Word for Children
usually takes place the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, during the 10am Mass. Children in grades K,1,2,3 are invited to go downstairs to hear the readings in children’s form.
Vocation Committee
educates parishioners about vocations and encourages prayers for vocations. A vocation cross gets passed around the households of the parish to bring added awareness for our need of prayer for vocations.
Prayer Request Line
assists people in need of prayer. By calling a prayer leader, the prayer request line will be activated. The person in need may use their name or remain anonymous. Please call the parish office (419-268-2312)..
Care Committee
ministers to those sick or homebound as well as any parishioners in the military or incarcerated. They also send birthday cards and cards of encouragement as needed. The CCD classes participate by making cards.
The Welcome Committee
contacts new parishioners and welcomes them into the parish family.
Mass Assistants
prepare the vessels for Mass as well as turn on and off the lights. This is an aid to the priest as he prepares for Mass.
Sacristans
clean and decorate the sanctuary, making sure the church reflects the liturgical seasons. They decorate throughout the year with major decorating at Christmas and Easter.
FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding, and Study) Group consists of married couples who meet with engaged couples for marriage preparation. They administer a questionnaire to the couple and review the results with them. This is designed to enhance communication skills.
